If your orthodontist mentions a 'refinement' near the end of your Invisalign treatment, it's a normal, expected part of the process for many cases — here's why.
A refinement is an additional, shorter round of aligners created near the end of your original treatment plan, to fine-tune any remaining minor discrepancies between the projected ClinCheck result and your actual progress.
Why Refinements Happen
Teeth don't always move with 100% mechanical precision — biological factors mean actual movement can differ very slightly from the digital ClinCheck prediction. Refinements use a fresh scan of your progress to correct any small remaining gaps and achieve the final planned result precisely.
Are Refinements Included in the Price?
Yes — at TDS, one round of refinement is included in your quoted Invisalign price at no extra charge, for Lite, Moderate, and Comprehensive plans alike. This is one of the specific inclusions we're always upfront about at your consultation.
